Project Overview

The Balambu Interchange Flyover stands as one of Jalap Nepal's most defining achievements; the fabrication, painting, and installation of Nepal's first ever Curved Steel Box Multi-Span Continuous Girder Flyover. This landmark structure is a component of the Nagdhunga–Sisnekhola Tunnel Construction Project, Nepal's first modern road tunnel connecting Kathmandu and Dhading, built under a Rs 22 billion investment funded by JICA Japan and the Government of Nepal.

The flyover spans 128 meters in length and 7 meters in width, located at Kisipidi, Balambu, Kathmandu. It serves as a one-way overpass for vehicles exiting Kathmandu, designed specifically to manage traffic flow at the busy Balambu interchange where the Tribhuvan Highway meets the new tunnel road. The curved steel box girder design makes this structure unique in Nepal's engineering history — a complex geometry that demands an exceptional level of fabrication precision and technical expertise.

Jalap Nepal was entrusted by Japanese contractor M/S Hazama Ando Corporation to carry out the full scope of fabrication, protective painting, and on-site installation of this historic structure. What makes this project particularly significant is that all shop drawings were prepared in-house by our own Er. Sushma Raut — a testament to Jalap Nepal's growing technical self-reliance and engineering capability.
